How can I reassure my child who is nervous about his upcoming appointment?We do not administer any shots or perform any painful procedures at the Focus Clinic. We ask a lot of questions and play some video games. We recommend being honest that the provider will sometimes recommend that labs be completed at the Corewell Health West Pavilion or the University of Michigan West Outpatient Lab.

Is sensory training available just for sports?Yes. Our training technology is used by professional athletes to enhance performance and is available for school-aged athletes.

Is Focus Clinic affiliated with any other organizations?Focus Clinic is not affiliated with any other healthcare organization.

Do you accept insurance?Yes, are in-network with most commercial insurance plans. We do not accept Medicaid at this time, but do have a medicaid assistance program. Please contact our office for detailed information on insurance and billing policies.

What conditions do you specialize in treating?We evaluate and. manage ADHD, cognitive impairments, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and associated conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and depression.

What if I have concerns about medication for my child?We understand your concerns and ensure a shared decision-making process regarding any medication plan. Our approach focuses on safety and responsibility with the lowest effective dose always being recommended.

What is the role of Genetic Profiles in treatment?Genetic profiling helps in identifying how a patient’s genetics might affect their response to medications, enabling more precise and personalized treatment plans. Genetic testing is completely optional and is protected by health privacy laws.

How is the treatment plan developed?Treatment plans are developed through a comprehensive intake process and in collaboration with patients and parents.

What is sensory training?Sensory training improves deficiencies in processing, reaction time, and coordination, beneficial for ADHD and head injury recovery.

Do you offer counseling services?We offer ADHD coaching and have partnered with an organization that offers psychotherapy.

Do you offer telemedicine services?Telemedicine services are available for the treatment of ADHD, but all new patients must establish in-person for their assessments.

How do you track progress in treatment?We use a combination of technology-based outcomes tracking and regular feedback from patients and parents.

Do you offer online ADHD assessments?No. All of our assessments require patients to be seen in-person as our process utilizes technology and direct observation that cannot be completed remotely.

How many appointments are needed for for an ADHD assessment?The average is 2-3 appointments. The first visit is a detailed medical intake, which includes a physical examination and qEEG brain mapping. The second appointment includes cognitive and sustained attention testing. The third appointment includes learning disability testing if indicated.

Can I get support for my child's educational needs?Yes, we offer IEP advocacy and collaborate with educational professionals to support your child's learning experience.

Can you coordinate care with my child’s primary care physician?Yes, we believe in a collaborative approach and will coordinate with your child’s primary care team.

Are parents involved in the treatment process?Absolutely. While the law affords children 12 and older some privacy rights for mental health services, we encourage parent involvement and offer guidance for supporting your child's treatment at home.
